the 'gate'



Today's Mars in Leo opposition to Neptune in Aquarius is an opportunity for studying an unusual planetary configuration.
Most astrologers have been solely underlying the fraud, deception and frustration usually linked to this aspect.

I will ponder here on the pattern found in the opposition chart, as it is one of almost perfect symmetry.

This rectangular configuration is formed by two oppositions (Mars.Vesta opp Neptune.Lilith.Quiron and Saturn opp Uranus.Jupiter) that are linked by semi-sextiles (between Mars - Saturn on one side and Neptune - Uranus.Jupiter on the other).
But the oppositions are also each part of a T-square, one with Pluto the other with Mercury, thus a double pattern is actually formed.
By definition, oppositions are conflicting energies difficult to integrate because they require 'fair' objectivity.. and even-though this particular rectangle doesn't have an astrological name, it does indicate the way to resolving the conflicts at play.

All doors mark frontiers between distinct spacial or temporal 'territories' and their main characteristic is going from the here to the beyond, from the known to the unknown, from the personal to the transpersonal... In most traditions, doors are made in rectangular shapes and their symmetry, a very endeared concept in most cultures, has mysterious if not divine connotations. In our perceptions of a chaotic universe, symmetry is a very powerful symbol to represent order.
The seasonal ingress points positioned as a cross follow this same sense of order and their symbolic axis carry the outmost power in a given chart.

Traditionally rectangles point to a form of 'higher' initiation: the gates thru which we step from one level of consciousness to the next (see my notes about the Grand-Cross, a model for interpreting any rectangular pattern) in order to fulfill a higher call.

To make it rather short, I'd say that with the planets involved here, we need to take persistent (Saturn) action (Mars) to break away (Uranus) from a socio-cultural (Jupiter/Saturn) expectation where we are accustomed to either be a victim (Neptune) or the bully (Mars) and to transcend this dilemna we have to communicate (Mercury) in a very rational manner (Saturn) and not give up (Pluto) ... until a satisfying solution is found along with new awareness.

This mechanism may apply at very different levels of our lives: in relationship to others or ourselves.
Whichever case may be, going thru this door brings great rewards!
