a quest for meaning - II

Image
Zodiacal Man, Très Riches Heures du Duc de Berry The Spiritual Value of Astrology One of the main problems facing astrologers in their attempts to make astrology officially recognized as a legitimate and wholesome pursuit is not only the recent vulgarization of some of its most general and questionable aspects, but the vagueness and ambiguity of the way in which the very substance and purpose of astrology are defined.       It is probable that most people, if asked what astrology is, would say — in one way or another — that astrology deals with the influences of the Sun, the Moon, the planets and the stars upon human beings, and indeed upon all living organisms and such social "organisms" as nations, business firms, etc. They would add that the purpose of astrology is to ascertain the basic character and the future development of such persons and organizations in terms of definite expectable events. Very likely a great majority of astrologers would claim that ast

M. C. Escher (1898 - 1972) Astrology is an attempt to bring order, consistency and meaning  to the series of usually confused and conflicting happenings which constitute our life experience. The "basic scientist" likewise, as he tries to discover "laws of Nature," seeks to reduce the complexity and seeming chaos of natural phenomena to simple, regular and predictable patterns. Order and simplicity are the two foundations of "predictability"; and the sole business of the scientist, at the level of applied science, is to predict what will happen when. A law of science is a formula of predictability. It states that this will take place when such and such things occur together under such and such conditions. Where astrology essentially differs from modern science is, first, in making certain assumptions about the universe and man; secondly, on the basis of these assumptions, in seeking to discover not only the "order" inherent in the even

ISON (photo Trappist national telescope at ESO's La Silla Observatory on the morning of 15/11/13) "Truly, love is a ceaseless alternation of shadow and brilliancy! And the mysterious wanderers, the comets, have long hair of light; their faces always turn to the Sun. And their paths are elongated ellipses, far from the "perfect form" of the circumference; ellipses whose two foci are far apart, because in the irrational realms, the polarities of being are necessarily also remote from each other." "Geometrically speaking, the equilateral triangle is the most stable of all forms. The astrological grand trine normally links the three aspects of each of the four elements. It presents every mode of existence in its essentially threefold nature. It is unique in all astrological configurations in that it is composed of only one kind of aspect — and just as the grand cross is the archetype of all rectangular patterns in astrology, the grand trine occupies the same position in relation to triangular configurations. The equilateral triangle symbolizes in most religions perfection of being — i.e., God as the supreme foundation of all existence. In that sense, it is the symbol of both a static and transcendent condition. It contains no opposition aspect; therefore, it is essentially subjective. It simply is, without conflicts, what it is. However, if an expansive planet like Jupiter dominates a grand trine, this 'what it is' may keep enlarging itself

' nowrooz ' the new day, before it can really mark its start with the aries lunation is affected this year by a series of major planetary cycles; the equinox happens during a mercury retrograde, it is followed by a full moon and a venus cycle before the new moon ... which is followed by saturn going retrograde before a mars cycle the Sun ingresses Aries with Mars (ruler of Aries) and Uranus in the early degrees of Aries - the sign of exaltation for the Sun : this new day / new solar year starts with exceptional force and concentration of energy  it will be joined soon after by Venus and the New Moon will therefore happen in the midst of a stellium   nowrooz, spring equinox, 20 march 2013, 11:01:56gmt, 7e15, 43n42 27 march 2013 : full moon "The most basic 'Law' of our universe is that every release of new potentialities (or modes of energy) brings about a polarization of effects — that is, the new potentiality will be used both for const

  A. Ruperti and D. Rudhyar my mentor Alexander Ruperti (1913-1998) was born 100 years ago he helped many generations of astrologers in understanding Rudhyar's thinking and principles  and in developing further his synthetic approach to astrology here is the link to his tribute to Dane Rudhyar (1895-1985) :  A Seed-Man For The New Era in 2000 Joyce Hoen wrote the following about A. Ruperti :  It was March, 1989: the planets Saturn and Neptune were about to meet again after 35 years, for the first time since my birth (when they also where in conjunction). Planets in a birthchart are lived either within, or in relationship with the outside world, and will then manifest there -- all astrologers are aware of how a chart gives us this interesting take on reality.  It was a sunny day in March and I was asked by Tees Reitsma (who had organized the 3rd international astrology congress of "Astro-Kring" in The Hague re this Saturn-Neptune conj

While we are still under the sober influence of Saturn in Scorpio's sextile and mutual reception to Pluto in Capricorn, the first New Moon of 2013 has a stellium with five planets and Juno in Capricorn where the energies are concentrated to really start the season. The Sun.Moon.Mercury conjonction in Capricorn doesn't make aspects other than a loose sextile to the North Node in Scorpio. Meanwhile Venus, still in sextile with Neptune and Chiron in Piscis, is fast approaching Juno.Pluto in Capricorn and their square to Uranus in Aries and on the other hand Mars in Aquarius is slowly separating from a trine to Jupiter in Gemini and a square to Saturn in Scorpio. But we may be seeing some solutions to this 'crisis' now with the help of the kite formation. A Kite pattern is formed as Sun.Pluto are at the apex point opposite the Moon in Cancer which is in a grand trine with Saturn in Scorpio and Chiron.Neptune in Pisces. Sun.Pluto stand in sextiles with the latter two and can thus allow for the outward objective manifestation of the balanced self-sufficient fullness of the water trine configuration. In mutual reception, Saturn in Scorpio and Pluto in Capricorn are sextile and inconjunct to Jupit

The cock that crows as the first coloring of dawn appears at the eastern horizon is a beautiful symbol of the ability, demonstrated by all pioneers and cosmically attuned individuals, to give voice to what is as yet unmanifested, but is on the way to manifestation. At the ego level, chanticleer may feel that he makes the sun rise; but someday he will learn through painful experiences that to create is only to reveal what essentially is. It is the vivid recognition of the as-yet-unknown in the known. This symbol should make us think afresh about issues we too often take for granted. At every "sunrise" there are a few isolated witnesses that herald the coming of a new day. What is at stake here is the individual's capacity of RESPONSE TO LIFE'S RENEWALS — rene

"Sowing seed at dusk" - Constantin Meunier The Seed-Man I feel we are at the threshold of a new age and that we need now, more than anything else, a new approach to human relationships and to social organization. We need a planetary approach, we need a synthetic approach. We need something in which the individual learns his own function in the world, because if you are to have a global world, the individual has to be so well established in his own identity that he can afford to cooperate with other people all over the world, independent of their culture, their race, their traditions and so on. It is very important therefore, that one should learn how to establish oneself in one's own identity. We need a new type of human being. We need something which is based no longer so much on conflict, but on a full acceptance of the total human being, body, mind, soul, feelings, everything. An esthetic approach versus an ethical approach, so that you can see the

what remains

A brief look at the last New Moon of this solar year.. Many layers of significance are to be found in the depths of the Pisces alignment of this New Moon. The Sun and Moon conjunction activate Neptune' entrance and 14yrs sojourn into the sign - and along with Chiron and Pallas, they do highlight the nature of its energy. It is about what we call 'culture' or what remains whence everything else has disappeared.. capicúa / palindromic New Moon, 21.02.2012, 22:34:34ut, 7e15 43n42 Symbol 3° Pisces : Petrified tree trunks lie broken on desert sand. In one form or another, records of this culture endure or are mys
