alert: march 7th and our "non planet" friend pluto

March 7:
Mars in opposition to Pluto at 00°58' of Cancer/Capricorn is a highly significant transit: a taste for the major structural changes that are on their way.
Mars and Pluto together are a formidable combination that results in irrevocable change when the lessons from the earlier phases of the cycle are integrated.
Remember that Mars/Pluto will definitely destroy but it will also contain all the ingredients for renewal and regeneration.

With Pluto in Capricorn, a sign of society rather than the individual, we are not likely to see in the near future, the forces attempting to subsume the individual into the collective ease up in any way.
We can see this in terms of the various crises - environmental, economic, nuclear - that we are facing collectively, and the resultant insecurity that they create.

Individuality is seen as a luxury by an insecure society. (I have much to say about this from my own experience)

Mars

Symbolic indications:
1° Cancer is: “On a ship the sailors lower an old flag and raise up a new one.”
1° Capricorn tells us: “An Indian chief claims power from the assembled tribe.”

On a political level
- in the US, the Democratic presidential nominee will become obvious and will assume this status (the transit occurs right after Ohio and Texas primaries) but after candidates have unveiled "the" worst in their fierce battle.
- in France, the "opposition campaign" against President Sarkozy conducted by the French press and media (which started in the fall with the beginning of this aspect) will come to a head - what special treat will they serve us this time for the "élections municipales"? - this degree is conjunct with Carla Bruni's Sun placement at birth... mmmmh! --> This is a fascinating example demonstrating the shadow side of Capricorn: a sign about society and its collective laws and values - and at its worst the individual is nothing compared to this.
What matters to this sort of Capricorn is that the country is ruled properly, and information about people is needed to do that, but it doesn’t matter if the individual is violated along the way, because there is no such thing as an individual for Capricorn.
So we may be entering a period where we will have to stand up for our right not just to be different, but to be an individual in the first place. We may have to hold our breath for 15 years till Pluto enters Aquarius when we’ll be free again to wander around in purple hair and slippers.

beware of Big Brother, he has so many different faces!

On an economic level,
it has always been astrologically fairly clear that Pluto’s time in Capricorn would lead to a world economy that will be much less "exciting" than Pluto in Sagittarius but with much surer foundations. The Sagittarian 'credit bubble' has to be pricked first, and almost like clockwork, the world markets went into turmoil in January as Pluto entered Capricorn.
The markets did not crash, because it is not Capricorn’s way (it views crashes just as unrealistic and ungrounded as bubbles), but brings a good bit of Capricornian depression/ recession - a hangover from a party - to persuade us not to get so drunk again. We can expect the hangover to last at least for another year.
The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has warned banks that the crisis in the financial markets will force them to change the way they do business. (see my previous post on the eclipse in which I see the end of ownership society)...

Here is another Pluto in Capricorn event:
in an extensive test, the anti-depressants were not found to have a significantly better effect than the placebo at lifting depression. There surely is a bio-chemical basis to some depressions, but there is also the wonderful Capricornian lesson that happiness has to be earned and learned, it is not to be found in a pill.

On a personal level,
should this degree fall within a few degrees of an important position in a natal chart, it represents a time of opportunities to enter into battle with that part of your “shadow” that needs the power of the “Will-to-Good” in your life: in other words, it is an excellent time to “name your wound” and take the steps to heal it, for now, you can “enter into the battle for Light.”

On a global level,
we should expect a rise of violence, explosions, and other forms of upheavals on the days right before, during, and after the 7th.

This tendency to social upheaval is furthered by the New Moon at 17°31 Pisces in very close conjunction with Uranus at 18°34 Pisces on this day.
But in addition to the above-mentioned celestial events, there is one other: Venus conjunct Neptune at 22°39 Aquarius—may her compassion subdue these tendencies and help us through.

As astrologers, we know that things are cyclical, and that eventually they move on.
My question here is:
Can you place much faith in people behaving intelligently in large numbers? (I am very sceptical because I think that transformation happens primarily on an individual level)
